Learning a new skill isn’t real until you put it to use.

Feeling the need to learn something new, I took a vector illustration course at a local art school. The course was incredibly productive, but in the end all I had to show for it was a bunch of spec art and half-baked doodles.

Then one day I got a call from a close friend who runs a local Dunkin’ Donuts franchise. He was sponsoring a diabetes fundraiser as part of his charity outreach and they asked him to send a logo so they could feature his business on the event promotional materials. There couldn’t have been a better time to put my new skills to use and help out a worthy friend for a noble cause.

One good idea and a few hours of illustration later and this is the end result.
